There are so many knitwear trend out there at the moment, but for me; I know I cannot go wrong year after year with an oversized knit.
There is something about that oversized silhouette for winter that I love so much; and not to mention how cosy it is to wear such a baggy jumper in the colder months!
However it can also be a very hard shape to pull off and quite frumpy in appearance if not styled carefully.
I have selected five key oversized knits you can shop on the high street now, and I am going to let you in on a few ways I like to style this type of jumper; for your outfit to remain feminine and dressy.
So firstly let's quickly run through my five must-have knitwear items!
The Multi-coloured Knit that I am wearing in this post is the best sweater I own at the moment. Not only is it the perfect dupe for a knit in the Chloe ready to wear AW17 collection; it has a good composition of materials with 35% mohair, 35% alpaca, and 30% polyamide. The dusky, tones and muted pastels running through the jumper are just stunning and give the oversized piece a healthy mix of attitude and femininity. Perfect!
The further four knitwear items, are an extension of this style featuring some neutral, easy-to-style colours; along with some feminine tones and a continuation of that dusky, tie dye feel. Team any of these with monochromatic outfits, neutral separates or deep autumn winter colours and they are going to look fab!
One way I like to style the oversized knit for winter is to layer it over slim fitting mini dresses. This is how I have opted to wear it in today's post, taking full inspiration from the Chloe catwalks; layering the jumper on top of a faux leather pinafore dress. Lace slip dresses are another good way to go as well, with some lace details peeking out below the knit. Try choosing shorter length dresses with some pretty detail to the hem, such as the frill hem I have in this outfit as it adds that extra feminine touch. Pointed sock boots, for me, finish these looks perfectly but you could also wear over the knee boots for added warmth!
Another feminine way to style oversized knits this winter is by teaming them with some straight leg tailored trousers and Mary-Jane style pumps. Again opting for a slimmer fit bottom, balances out the bigger item on top, and keeps the look more feminine. This ultra-cute outfit combination is a good substitute for jeans and flat boots; giving you a smarter and more girly everyday go-to look. I feel key to this is choosing your colour combinations carefully and adding some pretty accessories.
One last way to consider wearing your oversized sweaters this season is to pick out jumpers that are lighter in colour, detracting from the masculine fit. There are so many beautiful coloured knits on the high street right now from dusky pinks to oatmeal shades. Lighter jumpers team beautifully with mid-wash blue denim if you are that girl that lives in jeans during winter; throw on some pretty court heels and you will look the part!
Of course, all of these outfit suggestions will be cropping up on my blog over winter; so be sure to follow me on Instagram to get some style inspo!
