Recently I have been picking up so many pieces for the warmer months ahead. New to my wardrobe are lots of tailored shorts, relaxed shirts, pretty blouses, printed palazzo trousers and also my new found love of hyper feminine dresses.
I have been completely sucked into the ultra-feminine, ethereal, romanticised dresses that were all over the catwalks for ss17 and now hitting the high street. In particular I loved the floaty, floral dresses by Giambattista Valli and have been swooning over all the delicate dresses about right now.
I am excited to let you know that I am going to be collaborating with Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford in a couple of weeks time, and the lovely PR guys very kindly gifted me this entire outfit. I was set the challenge of putting together my idea of the perfect summer outfit for £100 which I will be entering into a competition at Liberty along with two other bloggers. I will explain more about this on my social media in the lead up!
My idea of the perfect outfit for summer this year is one that involves an ethereal style dress that you can put on and feel extremely elegant and sophisticated. During the winter it is hard to dress completely feminine as we want to wrap up warm and be comfortable, and lets face it we have a very long winter; so the perfect summer outfit for me is one where I can go all out girly! My signature style is very much centred on tailoring but it is a breath of fresh air to slot in a handful of elegant, romanticised dresses to my every day summer wardrobe. Bring on the delicate fabrics, pretty palettes and feminine silhouettes!
I wanted to hunt out the ultimate, classic and beautiful dress of this style that would suit a lot of women; and I think I found it in Topshop! The dress I opted for was this modestly stunning midi dress in an ivory colour that has pink undertones and soft floral print. I believe it is actually a Lily print, so cute! As soon as I saw it I knew that it was what I was looking for! The dress is semi sheer and has this really sweet ruching to the sleeves as well as a slight hanky hem. What really makes this piece is how it moves when it is on; the fabric is so light that you can’t help but twirl in it. It’s a real ‘feel-good’ dress, one of those that when you put it on you automatically feel feminine, flirty and sophisticated.
I think it is a great idea to invest in a handful of pretty, romanticised dresses for summer as they are super easy to wear, pretty timeless and can be adapted for both day wear and evening wear. A dress such as the Topshop one I have opted for can be worn on a trip to the park with some wedge sandals and a cross body bag or to an evening meal with some gold barely-there heels and statement earrings. You could even dress it down with black sock boots which I would actually totally wear to a festival with statement jewellery and a heavily embellished cross body bag.
With minimal effort or thought, you can look put-together and women of all ages and sizes would look amazing in this style of dress! These dresses are also absolutely perfect for occasion wear, so ideal for the wedding season. A nice way of styling these dresses for occasions is to also team them with ornate accessories. Mixing the light and airy style of these dresses with elaborately decorated accessories is a really magical juxtaposition; especially for occasion wear.
Topshop for me are nailing romantic dresses, they have so many gorgeous, highly feminine dresses at the moment and I am so in love with them all! I hope you liked this post which was shot by my dad while my sister was away, didn’t he do an amazing job! I have linked more beautiful dresses below for you to shop and also leave me a comment on anything you might like to see me style or talk about on my blog in the future!
