I have shopped quite a lot for summer clothes recently, in the lead up to some summer sun. However I have tried to make a conscious effort to not get too sucked into trends as I know the summer months pass by so fast and trends will be ‘so last year’ before you know it. This summer I have really tried to be smart and just elevate the wardrobe I already have by adding just a handful of trend-led pieces and then throwing some simple separates with fresh palettes into the mix.
Through being more careful with my shopping, I have also had to look at things I already own and think of new ways to style them. This has led me to really start getting back into my basics and making the most of them! It is funny how simple it is to elevate your basics simply by pairing them thoughtfully.
In today’s look I have on a white vest from Primark for £2. So affordable and attainable for all budgets, shapes, sizes and age ranges. I haven’t worn a vest top in years but I am so into the simple white vest this summer. A basic like this can be overlooked but there is no reason for basics not to have a place in a killer outfit for day to day.
I have teamed mine with some cropped, white tailored trousers that I picked up from Next, and I can’t get enough of this look. It really makes for a good alternative to wearing jeans and t-shirts, which I have completely gone off of. Vests paired with tailored bottoms are a great smart casual look and I think the black leather mules finish the outfit off nicely; keeping it simple and classic. White on white is my ultimate look for summer, and this look is a go-to which I know will be timeless for this summer to next.
Other basics I am enjoying wearing a lot right now are soft, jersey cami tops especially in black; same goes for plain cropped tops in neutral tones. I adore really stripped back, plain, mini dresses with slim silhouettes as well and I think we all know I love a classic fit shirt. Don’t worry you will be seeing me style these pieces on my blog and Instagram very soon to give you some inspo on outfits!
Another tip for you is to really utilise Pinterest, it is honestly so good for outfit ideas. I am always on Pinterest. Go on there and you will see so many girls rocking things like basic tops in a way you hadn’t thought of; and it is great for finding inspiration on how to style items you already own. Pinterest helps me to you appreciate the items I already own, and find new ways to fall in love with them again; it also helps me not to pine over new clothes quite as much ha!
I have boards on Pinterest and I will create one on basics after uploading this post so be sure to follow me in order to get some ideas if it is something you are interested in! I will pin lots of inspo for you guys I promise.
Thanks for popping by!
