I am remoulding what was my fashion blog, into a new shape with a new feel and purpose. Life is a little like that, we all grow older and our character, experiences and interests change; to regenerate and be more in line with the stage of life we are living; and my blog is also doing just that.
There are many dimensions to my life as there are to everyone's, and although fashion is still a prominent love of mine, I am feeling inspired to share other facets to my being, that shape my everyday life and interests.
So this section of my blog is called 'Starting a business' because as the title clearly explains; I am doing just that with my sister. Let me introduce Yoghurt Creative.
The Inspiration Behind Yoghurt Creative
Yoghurt Creative was brought into being over Christmas 2019 when my sister Tia and I; who by the way, you are going to get to know a lot more on this platform now; decided to take the leap and combine our expertise to create something we felt was magical.
"A vibrant video production agency for small to medium businesses," with a creative and heart-felt twist.
Tia is a videographer and I have a background in shoot production and marketing, so our skills work seamlessly for starting a business we see has real potential.
To briefly explain the inspiration behind the name, one of our USP's is the fact that we create bitesize, snackable videos for online. So we brainstormed lots of ideas around this concept; and landed on the topic of foods that are snackable. Yoghurt as a concept works perfectly for all of the marketing ideas we have in mind; and which will all become clear the more you get to know our company.
I am sharing our experience as two young, females starting a business in what are some unprecedented times, and in what is typically a male dominated industry. Just saying that out loud sounds like a story that should be told.
We are supporting small businesses with their online presence, this being a big motivation behind our business concept and something very timely. All establishments are currently relying on their digital presence to prop up their business revenue, while they are unable to operate to their full ability during this pandemic.
We hope that we can aid these businesses in continuing their new creative efforts with digital marketing when the country gets back to work. We will achieve this by producing professional video content for company owners to stand out online as a small business, and reach more customers; to give them the best chance while the economy spends time finding its feet again.
The Boom Of Video Content
Something so prominent to come out of this historic moment of lock-down, has been the way businesses have adapted. Gyms have been offering online fitness classes, food companies have been giving how-to demonstrations on ways to use their product in tasty recipes, beauty businesses have been giving online beauty courses, companies are mastering the art of vlogging, businesses are using video networking to communicate while in isolation. It is demonstrating the power of the internet and the versatility it has for revenue streams; even in extreme situations like we are currently experiencing.
For people who work or are interested in marketing, like myself; it is SO interesting to look through my social feed and see the new creative ideas being generated by companies who want to keep their business in the eyes of their audience. Seeing businesses create their own video content to give followers ideas and inspiration while in lock-down, is just brilliant. Some having never uploaded a video before. In this time, businesses are proving they are not just about profit, but about giving back to the community as well; having a social purpose. The content they are creating has been about helping people, while sales are out of question. What a lovely practise to watch unfold, adding so much likeability to these businesses; and bringing back a real sense of community spirit. In that respect, what a lovely time for us to be starting a business.
Come On Set With Us
In the months from our initial birth of the Yoghurt Creative brand, to the full impact outbreak; we got filming a handful of local businesses; providing them with creative video content to use online. We filmed for a few companies to kick-start our services; from a campaign video Marilyn Morris makeup, a promo video for Yoga Co yoga workshops, to a property video for Sparrow Builders.
It was important for us to get shooting before we even had a face to the business; to have some videos ready for when we officially launched. We had a lot of fun filming and this has been the fun side of setting up the company. The more difficult side has been getting through our eye-wateringly long to-do list. Every bit of spare time and weekends has and is currently still dedicated to lifting Yoghurt Creative off of our notebooks and into reality.
Our problem is that we have soooo many ideas, and that's the downfall of us both being creative thinkers. We have so many ideas for every aspect of the business that it makes the to-do list pretty extensive. However with enforced isolation, we have more time to get all of our plans under wraps and we are getting super organised to finally launch after lock down. We are ready and excited!

Working On Creative Branding
We knew from the off that we wanted our brand to have lots of personality; and to be really recognisable. So when we settled on our peculiar brand name, we had lots to be explosive with when it came to branding.
While setting up the company we have held two photo shoots, one being a still life shoot where we really went ham on our 'yoghurt' theme haha. This was in aid of our marketing and for some image content for our website. Then we held a team shoot to get some photos of the two of us. We wanted these to be a bit more paired back, but still reflect our personalities and the fun company we are producing.
Our ideas do not stop coming in terms of content so we have so many ideas to introduce over time; but one other thing we have already introduced is our #YOGart series. I have been getting acquainted with the graphics tablet and illustrating on some of our brand images; again to add some fun and creative flavour to our content. I really enjoy doing this, and am developing a new little hobby in the process. I will share more on this and our creative branding in future posts too.
